Skilled Administrative Officers (AO) are crucial to the support of operations of Maritime Reserve Units (MRU).
The primary function of MRUs is to deliver trained Reservists as elements of Operational Capability at Readiness as mandated by Navy Command.
We, as Civil Servants working in Defence, deliver integral support to the Business Objectives of Commander Maritime Reserves (COMMARRES). We form part of the Operational Delivery Profession, offering outstanding and exciting development opportunities. We are the face of the Civil Service within the MOD as frontline Operational Professionals to Royal Naval Reservists.We proactively support and react to the requirements of colleagues, partners, and senior personnel to enable the day-to-day administration of MRUs.

Job description:
The North West and Midlands region includes HMS EAGLET (Liverpool), HMS FORWARD (Birmingham) and HMS SHERWOOD (Nottingham).
The position will be based in Nottingham primarily providing administrative support to HMS SHERWOOD and HMS EAGLET.
The Administrative Officer reports directly to the Support Manager and will provide general administrative duties to Maritime Reserve Units within our region, which will include but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
Working with a small team, provide general administrative support to Maritime Reserves personnel and colleagues within the region.- Process monthly payroll for Maritime Reserves personnel, producing reports and responding to queries as required.
As an Appraisals Administrator for Maritime Reserves personnel, support the Appraisals Coordinator ensuring the timely completion of performance reports.Provide Information Management support in accordance with policy.
Provide Information Technology support to colleagues and Maritime Reserves personnel in relation to system access requests and ordering equipment.
Person specification:
- You will have excellent communication and reasoning skills with the ability to maintain composure when dealing with challenging situations. Strong communication skills (both written and oral) with IT proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, etc). Can demonstrate excellent time management skills and has a proactive approach to work. You will be motivated and eager to learn and develop new skills.
Qualifications:
- You should be educated to GCSE or equivalent standard, which must include English and Mathematics at grade 4 (C) or above
