An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our team.

The post holder will work under mínimal supervision, being the first point of contact for patients calling in to book hospital appointments or with appointment related queries.


The Call Centre is a team of 20 staff responsible for the registering or new patient referrals and outpatient appointment bookings.

We work closely with all specialties across the Trust to ensure their appointment booking requirements are met.


In addition to the incoming telephone calls, there is a large aspect of administration duties in regards to processing patient referrals, updating patient records and reporting which is shared out amongst the team.

We are based approximately 2 miles from the main hospital site.


To provide and efficient and professional service to callers by answering telephones in a prompt and courteous manner and in accordance with Trust guidelines.


To make appointments utilising both the Trust Medway PAS (Patient Administration System) and the national eRS (electronic referral system), appropriately to their urgency.


To sensitively explain to patients where their appointments have been cancelled or changed and ensure a new appointment is negotiated as required.

To carry out a range of additional administrative duties and work as part of the call centre booking team.

The post holder is expected to actively promote and implement the Trust's equal opportunities policies and procedures.


The post holder must at all times respect patient confidentiality and, in particular, the confidentiality of electronically stored personal data in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.


The post holder is expected to take responsibility for self-development on a continuous basis, undertaking on-the-job and other training as required.

The post holder is required to familiarise him/herself with and comply with the Trust's policies and procedures. and be aware of individual responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act and identify and report, as necessary, any untoward accident, incident or potentially hazardous environment
