The Role & Key Responsibilities

The Office of the Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner (OSPCC) is seeking a small team of highly motivated individuals to deliver Immediate Justice (IJ) across Sussex.

The postholders will be required to organise and coordinate delivery of Immediate Justice (IJ) in line with the funding from the Home Office.

These roles will coordinate and manage the process between the issuing of a Reparative Community Resolution through to the delivery of that activity and work with the wider Immediate Justice team to support delivery of a package of initiatives across Sussex targeting Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB).

This programme of work is supported by funding from the Department of Levelling Up Housing & Communities (DLUHC) and the Home Office; and will involve multi-partners from criminal justice and community safety sectors.

Sussex is one of ten trailblazer sites identified to increase visible reparative criminal justice outcomes.

The OSPCC is seeking three Immediate Justice Delivery Officers who will work dynamically, effectively, and collaboratively with partners across Sussex.

The role will include delivering a reparative framework and supporting ASB and Immediate Justice led activities related to the DLUHC ASB Action Plan for 'Immediate Justice'.

The postholders will be the points of contact for the service.

They will be responsible for supporting delivery of the IJ scheme of initiatives and activities working with police and partner agencies.

The Delivery Officers will carry out service delivery tasks through an allocated caseload, engagement with police officers and staff, participants and delivery agencies and other delivery tasks as required to support effective IJ delivery.

A core part of the roles will be working with offenders in delivering reparative activities.

These roles will be critical in supporting the IJ lead and Programme manager in delivering the objectives of the funding.

Skills & Experience

  • Applicants will be able to demonstrate:
  • Recent experience of partnership working specifically in the areas of Anti-social behaviour and community safety.
  • A good awareness of some the indicators and factors concerning ASB and legislation including tools and powers.
  • Knowledge of how ASB affects communities and individual responsibilities of statutory agencies particularly involving reparative outcomes.
  • Experience of working or supporting ASB victims and perpetrators.
  • Knowledge and experience of facilitating criminal justice outcomes for ASB cases.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Evidence of having responsibility for effective coordination of multiple delivery partners.
  • Strong organisational skills, taking personal responsibility for meeting targets, managing work priorities flexibly to meet changing circumstances and deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to work flexibly.
  • Demonstrating integrity, tact and diplomacy in handling confidential information and supporting and coordinating competitive procurement processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills and the ability to solve problems.
  • Sound knowledge of the statutory requirements of the PCC with the ability to understand and correctly interpret the legislation to ensure compliance.
  • Good levels of IT literacy, including advanced Microsoft Office skills.
