SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) - Year 2 Support


Location:
Hornchurch, Havering


Position:
Full-time


Start Date: 29th April 2024

Hours:
Monday to Friday, 08:1- 15:45


Daily Rate:
£90 - £110 PAYE (depending on experience)


We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to support a child in Year 2 who is high-functioning autistic.

This rewarding role involves providing one-to-one support to the child to ensure they are able to access learning opportunities and reach their full potential.


About the Child:


  • The child is highfunctioning autistic, requiring support to stay on task and maintain focus.
  • No personal care is needed.
  • Working at Greater Depth in Maths, operating at a level more typical of Year 3/
  • Able to retain information well, particularly about flags, countries, etc.
  • Requires consistent support to keep them on task and engaged in learning activities.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide onetoone support to the child, assisting with their learning activities and ensuring they remain focused and engaged.
  • Adapt and differentiate learning resources and activities to meet the child's individual needs and learning style.
  • Support the child in accessing the curriculum, particularly in areas where they are working at a higher level.
  • Encourage independence and selfregulation skills, while providing reassurance and guidance as needed.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to implement and review the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and any additional support strategies.

Requirements:


  • Experience working with children with autism or special educational needs, preferably in a primary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of autism and strategies for supporting children with autism.
  • Ability to adapt and differentiate learning activities to meet the child's needs and interests.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with the child and other members of staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting children with diverse learning needs.
