As we continue to Modernise Asset Management this Area role will support the programming, commercial and technical management of suppliers who deliver our revenue maintenance activities, whilst strengthening technical skills and assurance of our Field Operations Teams.
Working alongside our Field Teams, you will build strong working relationships with the Local Delivery Lead, Asset Performance teams and framework suppliers to develop and deliver an optimised programme of low risk or specialist activities to be delivered by our suppliers.
Your duties will include:
- Reviewing the annual works programme, with a focus on our culvert inspections, to optimise delivery, whilst ensuring our assets reduce flood risk to the communities they protect.
- Reviewing existing contract arrangements and developing them to ensure they meet our future requirements.
- Work with the field team leader to ensure the most efficient use of our field teams as they operate, respond and maintain assets.
- Building good relationships, internally and externally.
- Assessing the Health and Safety of our suppliers to ensure they deliver work to the high levels we expect.
- Provide Health & Safety assurance skills, knowledge and experience of both internal and external delivery.
- Provide monthly reporting on key information that will inform the business of this work.
You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident.
This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The Area Operations Teams are motivated, vibrant and successful, offering a great place to work.
They have a pivotal role in delivering our strategic goal of 'assets operate when required'; our ambition to deliver a world class asset management service; and in particular the planning and delivery of revenue maintenance activities.
We maintain an extensive range of flood defence assets and as part of our ambition to be lead asset managers we have achieved ISO55001.
Experience/skills required
You'll be confident, organised and able to demonstrate a great track record of delivering projects / programmes of work.
Most importantly is your energy, enthusiasm and willingness to learn combined with strong personal skills to build relationships and excellent communication skills.
Knowledge and/or demonstrable experience of the following are essential:- A full driving licence.
- Managing health, safety and wellbeing through on site management.
- Familiar and competent in the use of Microsoft Office with willingness to learn our inhouse systems.
- Managing contractors and/or NEC contract management.
- Knowledge and experience of Asset Management.
- Ability to manage a programme of works.
Desirable:
- Site Managers Safety Training Scheme
- Formal contract management training with NEC4 or similar.
- Experience in technical leadership or people management skills are desirable
- Experience of managing projects within the Environment Agency
