Role purpose
Reporting to the Head of Compliance & MLRO, this position will help Vodafone UK grow safely and sustainably and protect us against financial crime, including Money Laundering, Sanctions, Terrorist Financing, Bribery, Corruption, Fraud, and others recognisedtypologies.
This person will lead the Financial Crime team, supporting with the implementation and oversight of effective controls, and acting as Deputy to the MLRO as well as being the nominated officer for Vodafone UK.
The individual in this position will provide Vodafone UK with clear regulatory interpretations and set corresponding policy expectations relating to our financial and non-financial products and services, taking a proportionate approach to risk-rating andassessment, whilst ensuring that the business always operates within our legal and regulatory risk appetites.
What will you be doing?
Risk & compliance oversight
To support the Head of Compliance in designing and implementing a fit for purpose operational model to support the effective management of financial crime risk & compliance, and the associated policy and governance lifecycle across Vodafone UK.
Establish and maintain a constructive and appropriate dialogue with the relevant regulators, including the NCA, the FCA and others ensure that any regulatory activities, i.e., reporting obligations.
Work across the business, engaging with pragmatic collaboration to find compliant solutions to business problems regarding financial crime regulatory/policy compliance.
Leadership of financial crime compliance transformation to fit regulatory expectations including the design and delivery of risk framework amendments and compliance oversight requirements, policy ownership and a full understanding of the three lines of defencemodel throughout Vodafone UK.
Leadership of Vodafone UK activity to design, implement and execute annual risk assessment activity across all core financial crime compliance disciplines.
Monitoring & reporting
Establish monitoring and review mechanisms to ensure compliance with all financial crime requirements, to include testing across the three lines of defence.
Responsible regulatory reporting obligations including reporting suspicious activities, ownership for breach reporting if required, as well as FCA REP-CRIM reporting.
Leadership of Vodafone UK reporting across all annual risk assessment activity across all core financial crime compliance disciplines, and the onward reporting of outcomes to Senior Leadership and Vodafone Group.
Leadership of business-critical MI and reporting covering all financial crime compliance disciplines, including significant input to the annual MLRO's Report.
Lead the facilitation of the regular financial crime forum.Training
Design strategy and content for and deliver training across the business covering key topics within the financial crime remit, with support from HR.
Support senior leadership with targeted training on corporate and individual financial crime compliance responsibilities.
Relationship management
Ensure that key business stakeholders across Vodafone UK and Vodafone Group are kept up to date on key external regulatory and policy developments and how these may impact business operations.
Lead the strategy for stakeholder communications at all levels across Vodafone UK and Vodafone Group, ensuring that key stakeholder relationships are maintained positively, and ensuring a strong awareness and understanding of financial crime compliance deliveryrequirements, strategy and objectives.
Who are we looking for?
- Experience working in a similar role in Financial Services, at Senior Manager or Deputy MLRO level, withing a financial crime/compliance discipline.
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills. Experience of writing policies, briefing papers, and reports, attending committees, and supporting senior management.
- Extensive experience of dealing with regulators and other external bodies in the financial crime compliance space as well as regulatory policy and legislation.
- Advanced stakeholder management is essential experience and ability to influence senior stakeholders and manage sensitive discussions is a necessary skill.
- A willingness to learn, work at a fast pace in a changing environment, positive outlook, and an appetite to succeed.
- Delivery focused, ability to work effectively at pace with experience leading crossfunction delivery projects.
- Must be able to think and act in the wider risk context rather than just "tick box" compliance.
- Relevant FCA / AML qualifications such as ICA and ACAMS.
- Financial crime compliance programme leadership experience is essential.
