Job Summary


This role entails conducting a thorough review of the SO15 intelligence archive, in order to comply with its legal obligations.

This process involves examining unique historical documents dating back to the 1930's in detail and making a decision on whetherthe document should be retained or disposed of.

This is a unique role and offers an unprecedented opportunity to explore the historical world of counter terrorism policing.

Work will include completing reviews of documents in line with RRD policy. Use of associated IT systems, scanning and shredding equipment.

The post holder will be required to do the following:

  • Reviewing of Historical Special Branch files and making an informed decision on the retention or destruction of currently retained files.
  • Files may require scanning or further archiving for future inquires.
  • Accurate updating of databases in excel and cross referencing.
  • Close liaison with other inquiry teams and legal representatives.
  • Close liaison with freedom of Information teams in a time critical manner.
  • Close liaison with storage facility and distribution teams.
  • To reduce physical archive to a digital format or removal to deep storage.
Key Skills


The post holder must have:

  • An understanding of the Government Security Classification Policy (GSC), Management of Police Information, Freedom of Information Act and the Data Protection Act.
  • Understand the importance of information security and its role in the protection of intelligence from accidental or nonauthorised disclosure.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and under pressure.
  • A good level of keyboard skills and computer literacy
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to summarise information.
  • Be able to enter data quickly and accurately.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good decision making and problem solving skills
  • Currently DV vetted.
Experience

  • Previous experience of working in a CT Intelligence environment
  • Previous experience of working with archival records
Desirables

  • Recent experience of working within a CT environment
  • Familiar with NCIA
  • An interest in worldwide affairs / Counter Terrorism
£18.78 PAYE / £21.48 LTD UMB per hour - ongoing temp booking
