Brief job description:

Firebrand Training have an exciting new opportunity for an IT Support Intern Apprentice with an IT Support and Cyber Solutions Company based in London


The IT Support Intern is training role which will provide guided training and experience to enable the team member to undertake the following responsibilities.

Design, Implementation and Operation of Internal IT systems.

Design and development of DevOps solutions to aid in automation of IT systems management and operations.


Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

  • Design and implementation at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security.
  • Design and implement hosted and cloud solutions for customers using technologies that meet their requirements.
  • IT support relating to issues with the internal systems and network infrastructure.
  • Administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system: update agent scripts, respond to alerts, monitor dashboard, and periodic system review.
  • Document maintenance for all computer systems and network infrastructure.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Business awareness: specific knowledge of the customer and how IT relates to their business strategy and goals.
  • Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities.
  • Review IT publications and online materials to remain up to date with current and future technologies emerging in the industry.

Qualifications:

5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)


Skills Required:


Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities to be developed as part of the Training provided:

To perform this job successfully, the Intern will be trained to acquire the skills outlined below.

  • Professional IT Certifications, such as: Microsoft MCP, MCSA, or MCSE, Cisco CCNA, or VMware VCP.
  • Interpersonal skills: such as telephony skills, communication skills, active listening and customercare.
  • Diagnosis skills of technical issues.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changes quickly.
  • Technical awareness: ability to match resources to technical issues appropriately.
  • Service awareness of all organization's key IT services for which support is being provided.
  • Understanding of support tools, techniques, and how technology is used to provide IT services.
  • Typing skills to ensure quick and accurate entry of service request details.
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to work in a fastmoving environment.

Future prospects:

The role offers a permanent role upon completion of the apprenticeship depending on performance.


Training to be provided:


Firebrand's sector-leading Level 3 Information Communication Technician (L3ICT) Apprenticeship Programme trains apprentices to deliver efficient operation and control of the IT and Telecommunications infrastructure and to deliver and support the information systems needs of an organisation.

Options include pathways for Support Technician, Network Technician and Digital Communications Technician.


Firebrands course is delivered either Online (online live instructor led), or face to face in the classroom environment (your choice).

Our Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Learning Mentors (LMs) and world-leading trainers prepare apprentices to work across multiple sectors.

Completion of this apprenticeship will provide learners with the following world class vendor certifications in addition to the Information Communication Technician apprenticeship:

  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Cloud Essentials+
  • BCS Level 3 Award in IT Service Management & Business Processes

Key areas covered are:

Support Technician

  • Maintenance or repair of systems faults
  • Support for the rollout of installation and commission of new systems or upgrades

Network Technician

  • Installation and commission of networks
  • Maintenance or repair of network equipment
  • Installation, configuration or maintenance task on either ICT related hardware or software

Digital Communications Technician

  • Installation and commission of telecoms networks
  • Maintenance or repair of telecoms network equipment
  • Installation, configuration or maintenance task on either ICT related hardware or software
