The Business:


Working exclusively in partnership with Seymour John, my client has a fascinating story starting in the 1600's which I'm happy to elaborate further on if you apply It's trademarked products are among the top 10 oldest brands within its product category in the world.

Today this owner managed small business is a producer, distributor, property owner and retailer/customer service provider all rolled into one which makes for a fascinating company to be involved with.

They are constantly looking to develop their offering to ensure they are best in class whilst retaining their local and authentic roots.

The business generates healthy profits, has a strong balance sheet, and there's always a project to get involved with.


The Opportunity:


  • Head of Finance & Business Services reporting to the Operations Director.
  • Operations Management Collaboration and Support_
  • Integrate seamlessly with the Management Team to deliver a superb offer across the estate
  • Collaborate with the Operational & Production Teams to help drive efficient business practices
  • Finance_
  • Manage the Management Accountant & Commercial Assistant to deliver an excellent financial service
  • Review the Monthly Management Accounts prior to distribution & prepare an overview for the team each month
  • Provide Weekly & Monthly reporting; Volume, Sales, Spend, Profit, etc
  • Produce and agree with each Manager an annual budget for sign off by MD
  • Review and submit the year end accounts file for review by the Auditors
  • Manage the Auditors and audit process
  • Manage Tax efficiently and diligently
  • Manage Cashflow and report to the MD weekly
  • Manage the company's authorisation process and authorise all payments from the bank
  • Business and contract review_
  • Manage tightly the business loan and deposit builder schemes
  • Play a pivotal role in Rent and Price reviews through the year but notably at Year End
  • Manage other cost crucial business routines through the year: eg Insurance, Utilities, Waste, Business Rates
  • Set up temporary systems and contracts for short term managed properties as required
  • Provide legal support eg money claims, litigation, property matters, working with the Company's lawyers if required
  • Systems and Processes_
  • Own and evolve the company's central systems, coaching and training the team along the way:
  • Financial Systems & Processes
  • Distribution Patterns
  • Employment & Remuneration Terms
  • Induction and Annual Training
  • Employee Relations Procedures
  • Health & Safety Procedures
  • Asset Management_
  • Own the company's Asset Files, keeping them up to date and orderly
  • Own the company's Vehicle Policy, working closely with Head of Brewing & Distribution to ensure diligent management
  • Manage the acquisition and disposal financial and legal process, working closely with the MD
  • Payroll & Pensions_
  • Own and process payment of the monthly salaries and NIC payments.
  • Complete annual returns including P11d's and EIS
  • Personnel Management_
  • Manage the Commercial Coordinator to deliver an excellent personnel administration service eg. holiday planning, absence tracker, induction training scheme
  • Welcome all new starters into the business, taking responsibility for their general welfare in the early stages
  • Own and sign off new starter documentation and Induction Training
  • Own all Personal files keeping them up to date and securely filed
  • Health & Safety_
  • Manage the Commercial Co-Ordinator to deliver an excellent Health & Safety administration service, delivering on all H&S policy items at the preset intervals
  • Own the Company Health and Safety Policy including accident and incident books, and H&S fixes and learnings.
  • Manage the quarterly H&S review including walkabouts with varied members of the team.
  • Produce the quarterly H&S Report for MD sign off.
  • IT & Communications_
  • Own the company's IT systems and hardware, working with our suppliers regularly for general update & maintenance & also in crisis. Sage is the accounting software alongside a specialist production system.
  • Set up new starters with the relevant equipment and provide support to the Team on technical issues.
  • Manage the contracts, costs and invoice payment for Mobile Phone, Internet, Landline and IT Support Suppliers

Salary:
£55,000.00-£60,000.00 per year


Supplemental pay types:

  • Bonus scheme
