Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Operations Manager for our client based in Witham on a permanent basis.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Overall management of the warehousing and transport operations including forwarding, administration and technical departments
  • Direct line management to heads of teams and indirect line management of 50 staff
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Responsible for the effective and successful management of the departments' productivity, quality control, customer service, health and safety measures and finances
  • Serving as a company representative on regulatory issues, ensuring continuous improvement of the operational procedures, systems and processes. Whilst delivering accurate and insightful management reports and KPI's
  • Create and adhere to the departmental budget
  • Day to day operations for a busy multiclient warehousing operation with all associated tasks
  • Prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality, and customerservice standards, resolve problems, complete audits
  • Contribute operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews
  • Establish contracts and pricing and ensuring facilities maintenance and serving as primary liaison with utilities and local government agencies, such as fire, police, health and safety agencies
  • Manage relationships with key operations vendors and track vendor pricing, rebates, and service levels
  • Work closely with the stock management team to perform analysis of inventory and ensure we are utilising our facilities effectively
  • Learn and understand the company's bespoke WMS in order to effectively report and analyse data
  • Critically evaluate raw data in order to identify trends and forecasts
  • Prepare an annual budget; schedule expenditures; analyse variances; initiating corrective actions
  • Management reporting including creating and updating KPI's
  • Meet or exceed operations labour budget expectations
  • Review and approve invoices via WAP and ensure they are submitted for payment in a timely manner
  • Maintain Health and Safety at work, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations
  • Become an ambassador for Health and Safety by overseeing any related investigations including the encouragement of near miss reporting.
  • Work with the HSEQ Manager on implementing any new and improved Health and Safety policies and processes
  • Work with the Warehouse Manager and HR to manage staff levels, compensation and levels of contract labour.
  • Responsible for all department managers and supervisors, with review/approval responsibility for all operations employees
  • Work closely with GM, HR team and management team to set and/or implement policies, procedures, HR initiatives and systems
  • Management of staff from beginning to end of the employee lifecycle with support and guidance from the HR department
  • Ensure the emphasis of performance management by creating measurable and fair KPI's, managed through HR's people management system
  • Involvement and support in disciplinary and grievance cases for the Operations department.

In return our client offers a salary of £50 - £60k DOE, 25 days holiday + bank holidays, private healthcare, life insurance, mobile phone allowance & enrolment into bonus scheme.
