Job Description:

Role Purpose


The Head of Global Security is a pivotal role in ensuring the security and safety of Wood Mackenzie's employees and business infrastructure.

The role will work closely with senior stakeholders and be responsible for key areas of business continuity; security of our infrastructure; managing travel risk for employees and communicating safety and security risks.

The successful individual will be responsible for communicating risks to all levels of seniority in the context of ongoing business operations and future strategy.

They will be able to build and maintain strong working relationships with senior stakeholders at times of high pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business continuity
  • Monitor intelligence and news flow for changes in business risk and provide briefings to key stakeholders on the specifics of the risks, their context and any recommended actions
  • Ensure business resilience plans (aligned with ISO are in p lace for our key nontech infrastructure and operations, and the plans are regularly stress tested
  • Work with the key stakeholders in technology to ensure business continuity planning is integrated and effective across nontech and tech operations
  • Lead Wood Mackenzie's crisis response teams in reaction to events such as travel or medical emergencies; natural disasters; geopolitical events, terrorism or a pandemic. This includes forming the group at the outset, engaging key stakeholders, and providing succinct communications / actions focused on the wellbeing of employees and security/safety of our business operations
  • Facilities security
  • Regularly review the security of all of our facilities and put in place remediation plans where issues are identified
  • Work with the facilities team to support building access management including the badging systems
  • Where specific country or regional compliance laws or regulations exist, ensure we have the business infrastructure and processes in place to meet the requirements and ensure the safety & security of our employees e.g. PoSH act in India
  • Work with the facilities team and other stakeholders in screening any new office locations including the locale and specific office selection
  • Travel risk management
  • Develop and maintain travel risk standards and policies, in line with ISO 31030 guidelines.
  • Be a visible champion of all travel security / safety components of our travel policy and its communication to drive the right behaviours and minimise the risk to employees
  • Monitor all business travel including the whereabouts of employees at any given time from initial booking to completion of trips. Highlight those employees impacted by evolving risks so we can act proactively wherever possible.
  • For countries identified as high risk, ensure that any planned visits by employees are properly considered, and decisions are made at the appropriate level within the business, as to whether such trips should proceed.
  • Ensure travellers receive individual safety briefings as required; work with them and signoff on their travel plans including any specific protection, and actively monitor their travel for the duration of the trip
  • Where employees are attending events including all Wood Mackenzie's own events ensure safety and security meets our required standard for our employees and (in the case of our own events) for all attendees
  • Maintain a framework and supporting procedures for Executive travel / protection and work with directly with the individuals to ensure it is implemented
  • Develop relevant and proportionate travel risk awareness training and material.
  • Provide up to date, accurate and relevant management reporting in relation to travel risk data.
  • Develop and maintain crossfunctional response and escalation protocols to ensure a timely response to emergencies threatening the safety and wellbeing of travellers.
