Purpose


To be accountable for the delivery and good governance of a multi-disciplinary therapy service by assessing, implementing (by self or junior staff), and evaluating programmes of personalised rehabilitation and care as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

To provide strong effective leadership and management of the therapies team including recruitment, appraisal, and performance.


Key Relationships

  • The role carries line management responsibility for Therapy Team Manager
  • The post holder is expected to foster good relationships and work closely with multidisciplinary teams, both internal and external
  • Responsible for working alongside and/or supporting volunteers within their team.
  • Responsible to maintain robust communication networks with the Head of Clinical Services and Service Director and other agencies and professions.
  • Responsible to develop and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders.
  • The post holder is expected to represent us at meetings/forums as required.

Main Responsibilities but not limited to

  • To lead, motivate and manage the therapy team.
  • Responsible for the unit's complex caseload (relevant to role) to provide highly specialist treatment programmes to meet individual needs and outcomes. To assess individual service user needs and develop an appropriate therapy programme to meet those needs.
  • Responsible to ensure practice complies with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and relevant professional standards and ethics, including Standards of Care
  • To implement evidencebased practice, ensuring effective service provision and positive outcomes
  • To ensure appropriate provision and maintenance of equipment within available resources
  • To share knowledge and expertise with other staff through formal and informal teaching within the therapy team and across the wider centre
  • Responsible to continuously develop team knowledge and expand clinical/rehabilitation skills and effectiveness.
  • To work closely with other areas of the organisation including fundraising, marketing, and policy/campaigns by providing information and analysis to support the delivery of the organisational strategy.
  • Facilitating the safe and smooth running of the Service, the post holder is expected to maintain a safe working environment, maintain service user confidentiality, and occasionally take on reasonable additional tasks.

About You:


  • BSc degree level qualification in either Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy
  • Management degree or equivalent experience
  • Registered with Health and Care Professionals Council
  • Post registration training in a relevant speciality.
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Current registration with relevant Professional Body
  • Member of a Professional Specialist Interest Group or willing to join.
  • Demonstrable experience of evidencebased practice and outcome measures
  • Experience of managing a team of staff including setting objectives, appraisal, recruitment, and disciplinary issues
  • An ability to work autonomously and to set own and others' priorities.
  • An ability to confidently assess and manage risk in relation to therapist/therapy service performance.
  • An ability to organise, coordinate and respond efficiently to complex information.
