Job summary:


  • The Tasking team are responsible for the receipt, review, management and coordination of tasking proposals developed within the NCA, and retain ultimate authority as to whether activity will or will not be tasked and supported by NCA resource. The Tasking team exercises its duty as the primary tasking function within the NCA, referring tasking proposals to the appropriate tasking forum for a decision to be taken as to whether it will be adopted as NCA tasked activity. The Tasking team operate within, and are, a key component of the NCA and National tasking structure. Within the tasking framework, the NCA Tasking team own the process for tasking all NCA 4P activity and covert intelligence collection, ensuring that NCA resource is effectively prioritised and focussed on the high end of highrisk, and align to a clear set of priorities as outlined in the Strategic Action Plans. The Tasking team are responsible for the management of and adherence to the agreed tasking process, working closely with business areas across the NCA to ensure a streamlined, efficient tasking process. The team provide the Operations SLT (Senior Leadership Team) with a monthly review of all P1 Operations that sit outside of the High Priority grid, as well as a selection of P2 Operations. Sensitive and indoctrinated activity is also included in this monthly review. A monthly report is prepared by the team in conjunction with the Tasking Governance team, using data from the Weekly Command Update reports. The Tasking team work alongside NCA colleagues in Performance, Assurance and Risk (PAR) to understand the impact of NCA operational activity against agreed priorities (as outlined in the National Strategic Assessment and NCA Annual Plan) and develop our organisational understanding of 'what works'. Utilising APMIS, the Tasking team record details of all tasking decisions taken, enabling operational results and outputs to be subsequently recorded by operational teams, and provide visibility of all tasked activity conducted across the NCA.

The role entails:

  • Triage and management of mailboxes;
  • Review, quality assurance and management of requests through the Tasking/prioritisation process, including the updating of APMIS;
  • Receipt, management and distribution of incoming European Investigation Orders (EIO) and International Letters of Requests (ILoR);
  • Responding to business and administrative queries;
  • Provide a secretariat function for meetings.
