Specialist Housing Support Worker on a
full time, permanent basis, based in
Harlow, Essex. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of
£25,787 per annum (plus sleep ins).

About the Specialist Housing Support Worker role:

As a
Specialist Housing Support Worker, you will support individual customers who have been referred to the service and are in Recovery.

Your role and that of the team will be to develop a package of support that enables the customers to reduce the risk of harm caused by drugs and alcohol, develop their confidence in accessing the local community and maintain their tenancies.

You will also use your skills and experience to offer specialised advice and guidance to colleagues and customers. In line with the schemes policies and procedures you will also offer specialised interventions when required.


What we're looking for in our Specialist Housing Support Worker:

  • A qualification or demonstrable experience in Treatment and Recovery for people with drug or Alcohol problems
  • An understanding of addiction and the impacts of substance misuse, and experience working with vulnerable people who have experienced trauma and may have complex and challenging support needs
  • Experience working with other agencies and statutory organisations, particularly within the Substance misuse, housing and social care sectors
  • A good knowledge of statutory and community services
  • Access to your own vehicle with business insurance included Is desirable

Responsibilities as our Specialist Housing Support Worker:

  • Ensuring the effective delivery of the Drug & Alcohol Supported Housing service for customers with a history of addiction who are on the recovery journey
  • Providing proactive and effective specialised support for colleagues and customers, by modelling good practice, advising on, and intervening in, complex and/or high-risk cases as required
  • Maintaining accurate records to evidence key performance targets and other reporting requirements
  • Developing and maintaining good links with local statutory and voluntary agencies to enable service users to access appropriate services and support
  • Providing personalised, structured and flexible support to clients to enable individuals to improve/maintain their independence
  • Working with the scheme manager to effectively manage risk to service users, employees and the community
  • Providing ongoing support and advice, to support customers on their recovery journey
  • Working collaboratively with partners, to ensure the Drug & Alcohol Supported Housing service provides an all-round Holistic service for customers
  • Participating in a shift Rota with colleagues to ensure there is cover for the service 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. This includes Sleep-ins
  • This role will require an Enhanced DBS check._
