Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a warm and welcoming school.

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant in our SEND school, you will play a crucial role in supporting students' emotional and mental well-being while helping them succeed academically.

This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide oneonone and group support to students with SEND, focusing on their mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Collaborate with teachers and specialists to develop and implement strategies and interventions that address SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) challenges.
Create a safe and nurturing classroom environment where students can openly express their emotions and receive support.
Foster resilience, selfesteem, and emotional intelligence among students.
Assist in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that address both academic and mental health needs.
Work closely with students to build trust and provide a supportive and empathetic presence.
Monitor and document the progress of students' mental health and emotional development.
Organize and participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

A background in psychology, counselling, social work, or related fields.
Experience working with children with SEND, with a strong understanding of SEMH challenges.
Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with students on a personal level.
A commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Flexibility and adaptability in addressing the diverse needs of students with SEND.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
