Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a warm and welcoming school.

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant in our SEND school, you will play a crucial role in supporting students' emotional and mental well-being while helping them succeed academically.

This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children with special educational needs.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide oneonone and group support to students with SEND, focusing on their mental health and emotional wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with teachers and specialists to develop and implement strategies and interventions that address SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) challenges.
  • Create a safe and nurturing classroom environment where students can openly express their emotions and receive support.
  • Foster resilience, selfesteem, and emotional intelligence among students.
  • Assist in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that address both academic and mental health needs.
  • Work closely with students to build trust and provide a supportive and empathetic presence.
  • Monitor and document the progress of students' mental health and emotional development.
  • Organize and participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A background in psychology, counselling, social work, or related fields.
  • Experience working with children with SEND, with a strong understanding of SEMH challenges.
  • Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with students on a personal level.
  • A commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in addressing the diverse needs of students with SEND.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Provide details for us to complete reference checks prior to employment. _
  • Provide an Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one (which Pink Tile can assist with). _
