Research Associate in Developmental Genetics - Cambridge, United Kingdom - University of Cambridge
Description
Applications are invited for a 3-year Post-Doctoral Research Associate position to join an international team in the Department of Genetics in central Cambridge.
The project is led by Ben Steventon and is aimed towards understanding the interplay of cell movements, signaling and gene-regulatory networks during posterior body axis elongation.
The project will involve experiments using the precise spatio-temporal control of gene expression within zebrafish embryos.Specific experience we are looking for is:
- Advanced imaging technologies such as multi-photon and light-sheet microscopy.
- Use of a range of image analysis tools including Image-J, Imaris and Arivis.
- Experience working with multiple biological systems including zebrafish and mouse embryos, and embryonic stem cells.
- Excellent cloning skills and experience generating engineered cell lines through BAC recombineering and transgenesis.
- Single cell RNAseq library preparation and data analysis
- Use of CRISPR for generating new mutant zebrafish lines
- Experience working with bioinformaticians and knowledge of existing analysis tools.
- Other key techniques of developmental biology, including cryosectioning, FACS and singlemolecule, HCR and wholemount in situ hybridization approaches to study gene expression.
The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
