Description
Job overview

Llais is a new national, independent body set up by the Welsh Government to give the people of Wales a voice in their health and social care services.

Our role is to engage with and listen to the patients and public of Wales.

We do this by reaching out to people in their local communities, hearing their views and understanding their experiences of health and social care.

We will feed back to decision-makers to help shape and influence future services.

Are you passionate about improving health and social care services in Wales?

A fantastic opportunity has become available at Llais National Office for a Welsh Translator, 37.5 hours per week, Band 5.

The post holder will work closely with Llais National Office Senior Management Team, staff and Regional Operations Managers to support service improvement and ensure that the Welsh language is a key consideration in all Llais business.

This includes the translation of documents from English to Welsh and occasionally from Welsh to English.

This role will contribute to ensuring that Llais comply with the Welsh Language Standards Regulations (2011), thereby helping to ensure that bilingual services are offered to people across Wales.

This is hybrid role, with both remote and office-based working.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is essential.

Main duties of the job

Translate documents/letters of correspondence (e.g. complaint letters, Senedd Member letters, press releases etc.) on behalf of Llais involving tight deadlines and often complex/sensitive information.

We are looking for someone to act as a first point of contact dealing with any telephone calls made to the Llais National Office where the caller has expressed a preference to communicate in Welsh.

The post holder will need advanced keyboard skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is particularly important when translating client and public letters, leaflets or information which will be available to the general public.

Working for our organisation

Everyone at Llais believes people and communities in Wales should lead happy, healthy lives where they get the health and social care they need in a way that works best for them.

We believe this can only happen by raising the power and influence of their voices in shaping people-centred health and social care services.
