Policy and Strategy Officer in Transport and Rail

Salary:
£42,011.00 Per Annum to £48,692.00 Per Annum


Benefits: 28 days holiday per annum plus bank holidays, access to the local government pension scheme, access to various salary sacrifice benefits, access to Flexi-Time Scheme, allowing accrual of up to 18 additional days leave per year

An exciting opportunity has become available in a Transport and Rail organisation's strategy, policy and research function providing the evidence, professional services and expert advice needed to develop and deliver an integrated approach to a Strategic Transport Plan (STP). This includes leading on the monitoring, evaluation and annual planning/reporting against the STP, and associated strategies.


Working across the organisation, this role will support the STP's three strategic ambitions (economic growth, decarbonization and reducing transport-related social exclusion), provide strategic oversight and manage the integration of relevant workstreams as well as managing interdependencies, and identifying and delivering further evidence and/or policy developments where necessary.


What we're looking for:


  • Experience of working in transport strategy and policy development (or in a related area of local economic development and planning), working in complex situations
  • A leader the development and policies, strategies, or business cases.
  • A good understanding of national and regional policy context, transport policy and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience of contract and procurement management.


As a confident communicator, you will have the ability to engage - in written and verbal format - with and influence a wide range of stakeholders, partners and senior colleagues alongside representing the organisation in public, professional and stakeholder forums.
