Sports Centre Operations Coordinator


Location:
The Sports Centre, Sherborne School


Salary:
£25,000 **per annum depending on skills and experience.


Reporting To:
Sports Centre Manager


Hours of Work:
This is a
Full-time role (40 hours per week) to include evenings, weekends and early mornings. Working 5 out of 7 days, predominately 8.00am to 5.00pm (with 1 hour unpaid lunch break).


Holidays:
Five weeks holiday entitlement per annum (plus Bank Holidays).


Principal Role:

Member of the Sherborne Sports Centre Management Team responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Sports Centre Facilities ensuring that they are in good working order, clean and safe for use in compliance with relevant legislation.


Core Responsibilities:


  • Responsibility for ensuring that the Sports Centre is fully operational during opening hours. Key relationship holder with the Sherborne Estates Team ensuring that support tickets are logged on a timely basis and followed up to ensure the Sports Centre is fit for purpose. Key relationship holder with relevant third parties to ensure that equipment and facilities are working to a high standard e.g., the Gym equipment service team, pool servicing suppliers, and the Cricket net supplier.
  • Responsible for the maintenance budget for the Sports Centre ensuring that the costs of running the facilities are accurately predicted in the annual budget setting process and that the budget is managed effectively over the course of the financial year reporting any anticipated variances to the Sports Centre Management. Ensure timely processing of invoices in liaison with the finance team.
  • Responsible for health and safety of the Sports Centre ensuring that the Normal Operating Procedures, Emergency Action Plan, Pool Safety Operating Procedures, risk assessments, fire safety procedures and other relevant procedures are kept up to date.
  • Meeting current regulations and legislation and ensuring the Sports Centre staff are kept up to date and trained to meet the requirements.
  • Responsibility for ensuring that the Sports Centre is kept clean and tidy at all times. Overseeing the Domestic staff that work in the centre (who are line managed by the Services Manager).
  • Establishing strong links with the Services Manager to ensure a high level of hygiene standards are maintained at all times.

Required skills and experience:


  • Experience managing risk in a sports environment including completing risk assessments demonstrating identification and mitigation of risk.

Desired skills and experience:


  • A relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience working in a large sports, leisure or hospitality type environment.

Personal attributes:


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to interact in a professional and articulate manner with a wide variety of stakeholders is essential.
  • A team player who leads by example and strives to exceed targets and expectations.
  • Effectiveness at building strong working relationships. Patient, tactful and discreet and able to maintain a sense of humour.
  • Sound organisational skills and, particularly, a keen eye for detail.
