We have a vacancy for a Band 7 Advanced Audiology Practitioner in Powys Teaching Health Board.

This is a role in the development and management of a First Point of contact Advanced Audiology and wax management service acrossMid and North Powys.


The postholder will work as an autonomous, advanced practitioner, with an extended scope of practice to work within a team to deliver assessment and management of hearing and balance conditions throughout Powys; providing a high standard of specialist assessment and treatment of Audiology patients in a variety of primary and community care settings.

The postholder will use evidence-based principles, current best practice and advanced specialist skills and clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

They will carry out work traditionally undertaken by General Medical Practitioners within the field of Audiology and to operate at a clinical level necessary to fulfil this role.

This will involve seeing patients on a first contact basis, without prior contact with their GP.

Post holders will assess patients; establish a rapid and accurate diagnosis and management plan, deliver some treatments and may need to refer onwards to ENT or Audiology including recommendation for appropriate radiological tests relevant to Audiological conditions.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

locations, primary and community care settings. Using evidence-based
principles, current best practice and advanced specialist skills and clinical
reasoning to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
Carry out work traditionally undertaken by General Medical Practitioners within
the field of Audiology and to operate at a clinical level necessary to fulfil this
role.
An expert clinician and will work as an independent practitioner in Audiology.
This will involve seeing patients on a first contact basis, without prior contact
with their GP. Post holders will assess and screen patients; establish a rapid
and accurate diagnosis and management plan, deliver some treatments and
may need to refer onwards to ENT or Audiology including recommendation for
appropriate radiological tests relevant to Audiological conditions.
Act as a source of expertise on the management of patients with hearing and
balance conditions and provide an advisory role within the Health Board,
Primary Care Staff and to Professional Colleagues as well as educating other
Audiology colleagues to fulfil such high-level clinical and extended roles.
Develop specific research, audit, service evaluation and service development
activities under the direction of the Professional Head of Audiology. Support
other more junior Audiology staff within the service who are contributing to
research and other projects.
Demonstrate competence in requesting diagnostic services such as MRIs to aid
diagnosis and the management plans of patients.
Responsible for the delivery of clinical services in this specialist area. They will

iii. Research and Audit activity
iv. Education
This is a role in the development and management of a primary care wax
removal service.
