The APEM Project Management Office is responsible for supporting divisions and central functions in the delivery of our client projects and strategic plan.

You will develop strong relationships with our Scientists and technical experts within the sector you will aligned with.

You will gain a deep understanding of the challenges and priorities being faced and regularly contributing to solutions to those from a PM perspective.

Over time you will become a trusted project management partner.


About the role


You will embody a business partnering approach to work with our sectors in achieving their strategic and business objectives, specifically through providing hands-on support, guidance and problem-solving to enable effective project delivery.

You will take a proactive approach in reviewing project management requirements vs current/future position.

You will support the development (and implementation) of a PM resourcing & training model in conjunction with the sector leads.


You will also be responsible for the effective delivery of assigned projects, demonstrating expert knowledge of the full project lifecycle, including but not limited to project planning & delivery, stakeholder management, risk management and financial management.


This will be achieved through:

  • Development and/or improvement key project management resources, including creation of associated documentation and processes such as Standard Operating Procedures and Project Templates
  • Supporting relevant division(s)/central functions in the delivery of internal and external projects through completion of assigned tasks within timescales, and proactively identifying opportunities to support.
  • Supporting the delivery of our projects through the generation and analysis of project related reports and data, identifying and ensuring completion of appropriate actions
  • Obtain and analyse information and data from across the organisation to identify and implement improvement opportunities
  • Support process improvement across the organisation, through process mapping, analysis and improvement techniques

About you
Ideally you will be PRINCE2/Project Management qualification or have significant experience of managing projects using set methodologies.

You should also possess significant experience of managing and successfully delivering a range of projects, advantageous to have done so in a consultancy environment.

Experience working in the environmental sector would be advantageous.


Experience of working as a business partner with a business area or business would be advantageous, we are looking for someone who can operate proactively with good influencing skills to help managers and directors understand the benefits of structured project management.

You should also have experience of developing and delivering training, workshops, and engagement events.
