The Respiratory Department has a vacancy for a full time Airways MDT & Pulmonary Nodule Co-Ordinator (Medical Secretary), to work as part of the Respiratory team at Watford General Hospital (may occasionally be required to travel cross site).
Experienced and committed, you will provide an efficient and comprehensive secretarial service to the Consultants and multi-disciplinary team.
The successful applicant will need to have a good general level of education with formal secretarial qualifications or at least two years' experience of working as a healthcare administrator and possess the essential qualifications outlined in the attached Person Specification.
An understanding of Cerner/ EPR/ Infloflex and radiology reporting systems also be beneficial.
This is an opportunity to work in a fascinating and growing specialty with a friendly team.
You will be responsible for tracking all Airways MDT referrals from referral through to treatment, monitoring wait times and making escalations to clinical teams to ensure compliance with national waiting time targets are met.
You will be liaising closely with other tertiary sites and obtaining and recording significant data requirements. You will be expected to assist with weekly meetings with the clinical teams. You will also be co-ordinating bookings for the Pulmonary Nodule patients.
The successful applicant will need to have a good general level of education with experience of line management.
Working hours will be Monday - Friday.

- Typing of clinic letters, using Infloflex database, discharge summaries and admin letters from tapes or dictation or written copy as required. Letters can sometimes contain distressing circumstances. Letters are in a pooled system and typed in date / priority order.
- To make sure photographs are filed in patients' notes and sent to patient when requested.
- Tracking MDT patients and booking Pulmonary Nodule patients
- To collect trolleys with clinic notes and return to Consultants' office for dictation / typing.
- To assist other secretaries in the Department with workload when required.
- To take direction from the Management and escalate any areas of concern.
- To help provide cover for the Administrative Assistant when they are absent.
