Job Introduction
We're seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Practitioner to join our Children with Disabilities Team.


This is a specialist social work team that offers support to children and young people with disabilities aged up to 18 and their families.


The service comprises of a team of social workers and assistants, and we work in partnership with children and young people, families, and other services such as health, education, and community organisations.

The team are part of our wider Children's Social Care service.

As Senior Practitioner you'll contribute to the team by holding cases, supervising colleagues and assisting in the more complex aspects of the work.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide the knowledge, skills and experience of a senior social care professional to a Children's Social Care team by taking responsibility for complex cases, mentoring of staff and the provision of expert support, advice and guidance.
  • Deliver effective social work assessment, care planning and interventions in the most demanding, sensitive and complex cases to improve the safety, development and wellbeing of children and young people involved.
  • Supervise the case work of social workers, social work assistants, students and childcare professionals receive appropriate supervision and direction.
  • Complex and contentious case management issues are resolved so that positive and timely action can be taken to address risks and meet demands, in conjunction with Deputy/Team Manager.
  • Lead responsibility for an area of children's service development and contribute to partnership working across Children's Services and partners, where appropriate.
  • A qualified social worker registered with Social Work England and hold relevant experience within field.
  • Be professional at all times.
  • Have the right knowledge, skills and experience to competently undertake the role.
  • For this role you are required to have a full UK driving licence and provide evidence of your vehicle insurance with business use. If you are successful, you will be required to supply evidence of your licence prior to starting the role.
  • Should you be offered the role, as part of the preemployment checks an enhanced DBS will be actioned for you (unless you are on the DBS Update Service).
