Project Malachi is a pioneering residential service, based in Ilford, accommodating 42 people, including people with no recourse to public funds.

The role of a
Support Worker with The Salvation Army is an inspirational one and key to achieving successful outcomes for our vulnerable residents.

We are looking for three highly motivated individuals to join our Support Team.


As a dynamic
Support Worker you will initiate, develop and maintain positive relationships with residents in order to identify key issues to support them in to successfully move on.

You will be responsible for key working a caseload of residents, supporting them through every stage of their stay from induction towards independent living.

You will also deliver a high quality programme of support which promotes resident choice and control.

You will work both independently and as part of a team to address residents' support needs, enabling them to make positive life choices and ultimately empower them to lead more sustainable lifestyles.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensure successful resident outcomes which demonstrate quality and effectiveness in all aspects of the programme
  • Understand and work to ensure the achievement of the objectives and targets of the service
  • Work with the team to develop the project in line with organisation and legislative requirements
  • Ensure all aspects of the job description are adhered to
  • Knowledge of the main support needs which are commonly faced by homeless and vulnerable residents
  • An understanding of working in a psychologically informed way
  • Ability to work in a busy environment, be solution focused, show good time management skills and can demonstrate ability to prioritise and make decisions under pressure
