My client is a well-established manufacturer and are looking for a Operations Manager to join their team.

With responsibility for circa 70 staff, we are looking for an experienced manager with a background in engineering-based manufacturing who will usetheir knowledge skills to deliver best practice and value across all aspects of or Operations.


Operations Manager - Job Role:

  • The strategic direction and overall management of company's manufacturing operations ensuring that all staff adhere to the Company's policies and procedures including Health and Safety, manufacturing instructions and the Quality Management System.
  • To manage and drive Operations to achieve the Company's strategic objectives in line with the annual budget and business plan.
  • To ensure that sales orders are delivered on time, to the correct levels of quality and at minimum cost, in line with the relevant standards.
  • To rigorously review and eliminate risk in all areas of the operations, including purchasing, manufacturing, health and safety and quality.
  • To oversee and be responsible for the management of all staff under you control in line with the company's HR procedures.
  • By effective production planning, to ensure the efficient use of direct labour, including the coordination of all operations departments.
  • To ensure that the purchase of Products and Services are achieved in the most costeffective way to meet agreed delivery dates of the order book and keeping WIP and material stock levels at a minimum.
  • Ensuring that quality responsibilities in all areas of Operations are clearly communicated and that manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs') are adhered to.
  • To work with the Board of Directors and other senior Managers to achieve both the immediate and longerterm objectives of the company.

Operations Manager - Person Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in manufacturing management managing a workforce of 60+ through a team of departmental managers.
  • Experience of managing purchasing function would be an advantage although production planning and factory management is essential.
  • HNC mechanical/ production engineering, supervisory and/or management qualifications a distinct advantage, such as Institute of Industrial Managers
