Our fun-loving, active 27-year-old client with quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy is looking for a friendly and sociable Support Worker who would love to accompany him on trips to the seaside, concerts and musicals and join in with other social activities.

The Role:


You will be supporting S who lives in his family home with fully adapted facilities including ceiling track hoisting and a wet room.

S is a wheelchair user and non-verbal but is able to communicate well using a combination of communication device and eye pointing.


Help with personal care along with household tasks will be an integral part of the role as well as assistance with shopping, communication, and emotional support.

You will be part of a close-knit friendly team supported by a Team Leader and our client's Case manager.

You will work with another Support Worker during day hours where you will enable S to attend activities and outings as well as accompanying him to various appointments.

S really enjoys family holidays and carers are asked to support with care during said holidays. Sleeping night shifts are one Support Worker only.


About You:


Ideally you will have some care experience but more important is your attitude and aptitude for the job and the ability to follow our client's care and support plans - full training will be provided.


You will be sociable, reliable and patient and have a happy disposition/fun-loving personality along with a positive and empathetic attitude to working with someone with additional needs, creating a fun and lively environment for him to enjoy.


You will be someone who can work on your own initiative and be proactive in helping S explore new activities to develop new skills whilst being a good team player.


The family have two dogs and two cats so you must be an animal lover and not suffer from any pet allergies.

A driver who can drive an automatic vehicle is ESSENTIAL.


Pay:


Less than 5 years' care experience:

  • £14 per hour weekdays
- £17 per hour weekends and bank holidays


Over 5 years' care experience:

- £15 per hour weekdays
- £18.50 per hour weekends and bank holidays

***This role has a pension scheme and paid holidays. Free evening meals will be provided and parking is available at our client's home.


Shifts:


This is a full-time role for 36 hours a week, you will need to be available to work both day and night shifts, the rota is prepared 1 month in advance.


Weekdays:


You need to be able to do both the evening and overnight shifts.

  • From 16:00 pm until 23:00 or 16:00 pm until 10:00 pm.
  • Sleeping hours are from 11:00 pm until 08:00 am

Weekends:

Saturday 10:00 am until 23:00 pm and Sunday 16:00 pm to 23:00 pm

An enhanced DBS certificate is a requirement, criminal convictions may not necessarily prevent employment. The Post operates a non-smoking environment at all times.
