  • Job description

  • This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the new Boston Barrier Scheme. The £110m tidal barrier will help protect 14,000 homes and 800 businesses from flooding and deliver economic benefits estimated to be worth over £1billion
The operation and maintenance of the barrier will be undertaken by our contractor for the next 18 months.

We need someone to oversee this work and help make decisions about how to operate the barrier into the future.

You'll be the main point of contact for the EA and liaise with contractors and partners to ensure that the barrier performs as expected.

You will also act as a 'senior user' for other engineering projects we have in the Boston area.

As a technical leader you will be expected to work autonomously, make decisions and engage others to support where needed.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do.

You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident.

This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

  • The team
  • Our team of professional Asset Managers is committed to keeping our flood risk assets fit for purpose to protect the communities we serve.
We manage the operation and maintenance of assets throughout the entire life cycle. Responsible for inspection, maintenance, repair and refurbishment, we ensure our assets remain functional into the future.

As a senior member of the team, you will role model our organisation's values, setting an example for other members of the team.

  • Experience/skills required
  • We are seeking a talented, dynamic individual with welldeveloped technical expertise and experience of asset management.

You should have these essential skills:

  • qualified to degree level in a relevant discipline or relevant work experience.
- knowledge of whole life asset management
- experience of project management and/or acting as a 'senior user' on civil engineering projects
- be able to manage a challenging workload with sometimes unexpected and conflicting deadlines
- have excellent verbal and written communication skills, using influence to get others to follow your lead

And ideally:
- experience of managing Strategically Important Assets (SIA)

  • Incident Management experience including flooding
- knowledge of ISO55000
- chartered membership of a professional institute and/or a relevant vocational postgraduate degree or working towards.

A full UK driving licence is essential.
There may be the opportunity to undertake an apprenticeship scheme e.g. Engineering Technician

  • Contact and additional informationInterviews will be held remotely using MS Teams.
You will be based at Ceres House in Lincoln with occasional site visits in and around Boston. However, for now you will be predominantly working from home.
