Domestic Lead


Job Purpose

  • Lead and manage the domestic team
  • Ensure there is focus on improvement
  • Ensuring training, development and support needs of domestic staff are met.
  • Lead policy change and implementation


As Domestic Team Lead you will be expected to lead and support the domestic staff, set standards of cleanliness and work as part of the management team.


General Domestic Duties

  • Ensuring cleaning carried out as per the National Infection Prevention and Control Manual and the NHS Safe Management of the Care Environment guidance, COSHH and health and safety guidelines.
  • Working within the team to provide a clean and welcoming environment for the residents, visitors and staff.
  • Ensure chemicals and equipment are used and stored correctly and safely as per the Homes policies and the NHS Safe Management of the Care Environment.

Team Leader Duties

  • Be an effective leader and be adaptable in approach in order to meet the needs of Braeburn Home. And as a leader support change and progress.
  • Supervise the professional work of domestic staff and provide individual and group support and supervision sessions regularly. Motivate domestic staff though interest, encouragement and recognition of their value.
  • Act as a positive role model for all staff.
  • Participate in the appraisal of the performance, training and support needs of the domestic staff.
  • Develop and maintain effect means of communication within the domestic team and the whole Home.
  • Support the review, writing and implementation of policies and Standard Operating Procedures for cleaning across the home, ensuring these are evidence based.
  • Support the review and development of auditing processes for cleanliness standards in the Home. Implement these audits within the home and feed back effectively to the domestic staff.
  • In conjunction with the Management team ensure the security, maintenance and cleanliness of the home and its surroundings, complying with health and safety and other relevant legislation
  • Rota planning for domestic staff.
  • Be aware of and keep within the allocated budget for the domestic team.

General


The postholder is expected to take a flexible and resourceful approach to all matters that may arise in the running of the home and be prepared to work effectively in emergencies and stressful situations.


The postholder will be expected to work in the best interests of Braeburn Home, contributing to its policies, marketing strategies, and other corporate initiatives and representing the organisation in all external relationships.


The postholder may be required to present reports to the Board and its committees from time to time and attend meetings.

Any other duties as reasonably requested by the Board commensurate with the capabilities required of the post.


Most Challenging Parts of the Job
The Domestic Leader has a considerable challenge in development and introducing new ways of working. This must be undertaken in a sensitive manner, whilst continuing to ensure change is managed in a timely manner.

The Domestic Leader must ensure that there is adherence to consistent, best practice and evidenced based care practices.


The post holder is expected to lead the team and present a positive, proactive approach and support and motivate your team particularly during challenging periods of time.


The post holder is expected to be an effective communicator and ensure open and transparent communication with all the staff team.


Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time

Part-time hours: 30 per week

£11.20 per hour
