Imagine Independence is a leading third sector organisation, passionate about supporting people with mental illness, neurodiversity, learning disabilities, and behaviours that challenge to live as part of their community.

Imagine exists to challenge the stigma that having a mental illness or learning disability still brings. Imagine supports people to live meaningfully by nurturing their individuality and recognising the power of small steps.

Every day, Imagine's staff and volunteers generously share their experience, knowledge, and talents with the people they support. Through their focused dedication to Imagine's mission, and the courage to challenge the status quo, people feel valued. They know they are making both the 'everyday' and the 'extraordinary' become possible for everyone.

They walk alongside the people they have the privilege to serve, helping to transform lives, one day at a time.

And they never give up.

Do you want to become part of this amazing organisation?

Imagine now needs Specialist Support Workers who will provide support to individuals with a variety of different needs and conditions.

This may include learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorders, complex behaviour, mental health conditions, acquired brain injuries, physical disabilities, neurological impairments, psychiatric and clinical needs.

This is a great time to join, as we continue to expand our services across the north-west of England and beyond.

The role of support worker includes an expectation to support individuals with all their daily living requirements including support with personal care.

If you have patience, compassion and willingness to make a difference in someone's life then we would like to hear from you.

Our main aim is:

You will be supporting a gentleman in his family home who likes to be out and about and walking outside, bowling and using his laptop.

He appreciates staff who create a calm and quiet environment and who are patient and confident and able to follow his routines.

The gentlemen is a keen walker so someone who likes to be outside and walking is preferred.

At times he needs his staff to offer him extra care and support if he is feeling anxious or worried as he can display behaviours that may become challenging.

You will help him to do every-day things that most of us take for granted.

That might involve shopping, meal planning, cooking, budgeting, getting out and about on trips, going on holiday, attending a range of social groups and, above all, encouraging him to live safely with meaning and purpose.

Experience is preferred due to the complex needs of the person, however full training will be provided which is a combination of face to face, online and shadowing an existing staff member.

We will support you to complete Care Certificate and also provide opportunities to gain qualifications In Health and Social Care.
