Description
To support the establishment and ensure implementation of the Trust's Quality
Assurance programme.
To support the management of the quality assurance cycle as it relates to clinical
governance, clinical audit, covering national audits and Trustwide priority audits
To oversee a holistic quality assurance process, including strategic standard-setting,
efficient measurement systems, robust feedback and the facilitation of local improvement
actions.
To provide senior level support to Divisional clinical leads and clinical teams in
undertaking quality assurance, clinical audit and effectiveness work, advising on topics,
methodology and presentation.
To provide the communication link between the Quality Assurance team and the
Divisions with regard to national and Trustwide priority quality priorities.
To support Divisions in the delivery of Trustwide audits ensuring that the audit cycle is
closed and that clinical audit makes a difference to patient care and service delivery,
through re-audit and service development.
To support Divisions in the assessment and implementation of best practice guidance,
including but not limited to National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE)
guidance, relevant to services provided across the Trus

  • To support Divisions in identifying and registering any new clinical procedures,
techniques, methods or therapies as part of the Trust innovation programme

  • To support the role of the Quality Assurance team in ensuring that the Trust achieves
compliance with national and local mandatory standards such as the Care Quality
Commission's standards, NICE standards, the Trust's annual Quality priorities, and Quality
Accounts
To assist Divisions in participation in national clinical audit and confidential enquiries and
benchmarking services against the Trust and peers in relation to Patient Reported
Outcome Measures (PROMS) and NHS.UK condition specific clinical indicators


Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust is a community focused provider of local and acute care, providing high quality services to over one million people living across the London boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich and Bexley.

With a turnover of around £700 million, we provide services at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, University Hospital Lewisham and a range of community settings in Lewisham.

We also provide some services at Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup.

As an organisation, we've made significant improvements for patients and staff in the last two and-a-half years.

This is reflected in our most recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection (from February 2020), which found improvements across the organisation and gave us an improved rating of "Good" in the Well-Led and Effective domains, in addition to the rating of "Good" that we had already achieved in the Caring domain.

Our staff culture change programme has been key to the Trust's improvement journey, as we've stabilised our workforce by reducing vacancy rates and improving staff retention.

We've also significantly increased the representation of minority ethnic leaders across our clinical and corporate teams.

To act as a specialist resource within the Quality Assurance Team, using acquired
knowledge and skill of clinical audit to empower, educate, and support all levels of staff
in the undertaking and completion of Trustwide and national priority audits

  • To oversee and project manage the Trust's Quality Assurance Programme, ensuring
each identified project is delivered within the agreed timescales

  • To promote awareness, understanding and best practice in clinical audit, assurance and
compliance across the divisions

  • To facilitate and assist with clinical audit and effectiveness projects with clinical teams as
agreed in the Trust's Quality Assurance and Clinical Audit Programmes
To have an in-depth and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of local and
national audit and effectiveness priorities and initiatives and communicate them
effectively to the team and divisions
To provide visible leadership on quality assurance to the Trust's clinical divisions
To act as an advocate for the Quality Assurance team at Trust wide and Divisional
committee meetings.
