Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Read and interpret relevant plans, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
  • Prepare the layout of the project, marking cutting lines on materials, and assembling parts to create structures.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, and other materials.
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
  • Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding, and hardware.
  • Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Collaborate with other construction professionals, including architects, engineers, and subcontractors, to ensure quality and timely completion of projects.

Qualifications:


  • Proven experience as a carpenter with a portfolio of completed carpentry projects.
  • Strong understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
  • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers, etc.).
  • Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
  • Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times.
  • Good understanding of basic math.
  • Good physical condition and endurance.
  • High school diploma; Successful completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program is preferred.

Skills:


  • Excellent handeye coordination.
  • Detailoriented with an aptitude for problemsolving.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Time management skills to meet deadlines.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This role requires working in various settings, including new constructions, renovations, and outdoor projects. It involves frequent standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and working in heights.
