Reports to:

Line Manager to:
Security Contracts Manager and Security Standards Manager

ROLE PURPOSE

Ensure the Airport is a safe and secure environment for all stakeholders, leading on Corporate and Aviation Security policy, governance and assurance.

Improve performance through process, technological improvements (including transition to C3 technology) andengagement as well as embracing data to drive operational improvements.

Enhance passenger service levels and welfare along with enhancing security related communications with our passengers.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement the Airport Security Strategy, identifying future requirements in line with business growth and regulatory requirements;
  • Champion high standards of security and accountability across the Airport, visibly leading on standards and driving operational excellence;
  • Manage the performance of the aviation security contractor(s), driving efficient and costeffective service delivery through effective working relationships at all levels, agreement of appropriate SLA's and KPIs, monitoring performance jointly and implementingany required remedial action;
  • Ensure the security contractor is provided with timely and accurate data in relation to passenger flow and operational requirements, enabling them to plan and resource effectively;
  • Maintain appropriate MI/BI to monitor performance across all aspects of the of the security operation to inform decision making across the wider operational customer journey, drive continuous improvement and optimize processes;
  • Act as The Client's main point of contact with the CAA/DFT, Security Services and other government and regulatory agencies on security matters, responding to and influencing policy as appropriate, and project managing required changes to Airport policiesand procedures;
  • Lead the BRS Security Team, coaching, developing, and empowering them to deliver an efficient, effective and compliant operation with our security contractors;
  • Lead the Risk Assessment Group (RAG) and the development of the Airport Security Programme as required to maintain the agreed levels of risk;.
  • Be an active member of the Security Executive Committee and provide a supporting role to the Safety Executive Group (SEG) Chair;
  • Ensure that regular threat risk assessments are undertaken by competent individuals and outcomes used to inform operational requirements;
  • Assure the security of the site through robust physical security including asset manager CCTV and PIDS systems, appropriate access control and deployment of adequate and competent personnel across the estate;
  • Plan and manage delivery of an appropriate level of service from Avon & Somerset Police in line with national, regulatory and operational requirements, including budget management and provision of facilities, through the 'Police Services Agreement';
  • Set and manage the budgets for aviation security and policing, negotiating and managing contracts to ensure delivery within budget.;
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the People Team to ensure all employees receive effective induction, training and information to fulfil their security responsibilities;
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Airport business partners, including airlines, handling agents, PRM providers and other contracted service providers, to ensure that their own operations are safe and fully compliant with Companyand regulatory requirements.
  • Establish strong working relationships with operational peers through excellent communication skills, sharing strategic goals, outcomes and ensuring a positive work environment.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • Demonstrable operational leadership and people management skills, ideally gained in a variety of management roles, with a track record of leading and inspiring teams;
  • Experience of operating effectively in a similar environment (operational, service delivery, multisite, 24/7) with a creative and pragmatic approach to problem solving;
  • A strong commercial focus, with evidence of partnering to deliver business objectives and ROI through engagement and continuous improvement;
  • Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills with the ability to juggle multiple challenges and initiatives at any one time;
  • Demonstrable experience of effectively managing third parties and contractors to deliver high standards of service;
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels, both internally and externally;
  • ICT savvy and able to utilise technology to innovate and drive efficiency;
  • Sound analytical skills including the ability to interpret and present a range of statistical and qualitative data and identify trends in a meaningful way.
  • Proactive and selfmotivated, with examples of adding value as both an individual contributor and an active team member;
  • Tenacious, resilient and positive nature;
  • Evidence of commitment to CPD and personal growth.
  • Able to provide references covering the last 5 years, hold a valid passport, and able to obtain government vetting to SC status.

Desirable

  • Continuous Improvement experience and/or qualifications;
  • Project Management skills
  • Good working knowledge of security in the aviation sector and forthcoming developments and a detailed knowledge of the regulatory framework governing Aviation Security.
