We are working with a borough in South London to recruit Continuing Healthcare Specialists. (CHC)


CHC/CC role profile:

As an overview the CHC Lead will provide key leadership, oversight and coordination to the LA response to CHC.

In that, key elements will include:
-
Support and oversee the LA Assessment and review ensuring:

  • comprehensive assessments of individuals' health and social care needs.
  • Gathering of information from various sources, including healthcare professionals, family members, and the individuals themselves.
  • Use assessment tools, and evidence to ensure the level of need and eligibility for continuing healthcare funding.

Support and oversee Documentation and Reporting:

  • assessment findings in a clear and accurate manner.
  • Support and prepare detailed reports outlining the individual's needs and the level of support required.
  • Ensure that reports are submitted within specified timelines.

Collaboration:


  • Work closely with healthcare professionals, social workers, and other relevant stakeholders to gather information and ensure a holistic understanding of the individual's needs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to discuss and review assessment outcomes.

Compliance:


  • Ensure assessments align with legal and ethical standards.

Professional Development:


  • Provide and support professional development learning in the ASC workforce to enhance assessment skills, CHC understanding and insights to ensure eligible needs are recognised and assessed as so and adherence to any local protocols and more broadly the National CHC framework

Experience and skills:


  • Experience in healthcare or social care assessments.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks.
  • Ability to analyse complex information and make informed decisions about individuals' eligibility for continuing healthcare.

Dispute Resolution leadership:


  • Handle negotiations in cases of disputes or disagreements between the local authority and NHS
  • Develop and agree a Sutton dispute resolution policy and process with Sutton integrated care board.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as social workers, healthcare professionals, and administrators, to align negotiations with the broader goals and strategies of the local authority.
  • Policy Adherence:
  • Ensure that negotiated agreements comply with relevant healthcare policies, local authority regulations, and legal standards.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Educational Background:
  • A diploma or degree in healthcare, public administration, or a related field.
  • Negotiation Skills:
  • Strong negotiation skills, including the ability to balance the needs of individuals with the financial constraints of the local authority.
  • Financial Acumen:
  • Understanding of healthcare financing, budgeting
  • Communication Skills:
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex healthcare needs and financial information in negotiations and to liaise with internal stakeholders.
  • Legal and Regulatory Knowledge:
  • Understanding of CHC healthcare, and legal considerations
  • Interpersonal Skills:
  • Ability to build positive relationships with healthcare providers and internal stakeholders.

Work Environment:


  • Office, home based and fieldwork.
  • Work may involve both officebased negotiations and onsite visits to healthcare facilities.
  • Team Collaboration will involve collaboration with finance professionals, legal experts, healthcare administrators, and other relevant local authority departments.
  • Deadline Management including;
  • Manage negotiations within specified timelines to ensure the continuity of care for individuals.
