    How does the Apprenticeship work? _


As an Apprentice, you will be employed, just like anyone else at the company, the difference is that you will be studying towards a qualification.


Any work that you are set within this session is then expected to be complete for the next month's session.

You will be given time each week to do this within your working day/week - so no homework This will all prepare you for your End Point Assessment (EPA) once you have completed all the learning required.

We are a medium sized GP practice based on Clifton Campus of Nottingham Trent University providing Medical services mainly to students on the campus.

We aim to provide all of our patients with a comprehensive range of healthcare services covering one-off problems to longer term illnesses.

About the team:_

There are 10 core staff and 3 doctors along with a number of associated team members.


About the Role:


As a GP receptionist the role will involve booking appointments over the phone and face to face and contacting patients as needed and responding to queries and requests for information from patients and health professionals alike.

The role requires working as a member of a team and independently using your own initiative.


And Day to Day?.


You will be Responsible for:


  • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system.
  • Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional.
  • Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail.
  • Taking messages and passing on information.
  • Filing and retrieving paperwork.
  • Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines.
  • Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures.
  • Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers.
  • Clearing and restocking consulting rooms as required.
  • Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying, and scanning.
  • Ordering, reordering and monitoring of stationery and other supplies.
  • Provision of refreshments for staff and visitors as required, loading, and emptying the dishwasher and keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy.
  • Keeping the reception area, noticeboards, and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter.

Skills Required:

  • Good IT skills

Minimum Qualifications Required eg:

GCSE or equivalent English and Maths grade 4/C or above.
