Pharmacy Dispensing Assistants- Bank posts, hours to incorporate weekend shifts
Band: 3 (£21,730-£23,177)

Base:
You may be required to work in other designated locations of the
Trust as well as your primary base. In particular, flexibility is
required across the three main hospital sites (Leicester Royal
Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital). If
your initial location is one of these sites excess travel
change of base.
We are currently looking for enthusiastic, highly motivated Dispensing Assistants to join our Pharmacy Bank team at University Hospital Leicester.
In addition you will need to ensure accurate stock control of medicines, maintain the replenishment of sundries and participate in keeping the dispensary clean and tidy
You will be required to work closely with other members of the dispensary and pharmacy replenishment and dispensary team, including the distributors and pharmacy assistants, to help deliver an efficient and effective pharmacy service to the hospital.

- To dispense prescriptions in accordance with professional and ethical standards laid down by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) ensuring that Departmental standards of quality, accuracy and timeliness are met.
- To dispense Controlled Drugs to ensure that the requirements of the Misuse of Drugs Act (1971), General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) standards, and ensuring departmental Standard Operating Procedures are met.
- To document receipts of Controlled Drugs into the controlled drug register as soon after receipt as possible. To ensure that registers are kept accurate at all times, reporting any discrepancies to the Dispensary Team Leader.
- To ensure all drug transactions are entered accurately and timely to the pharmacy computer system so stock discrepancies are minimised.
- To maintain and review drug 'tofollows' to ensure an effective system of drug supply, through effective communication with relevant pharmacy and ward staff.
- Ensure that all stocktaking requirements are met so that the catalogue of monthly stock take is maintained.
- To perform receptionist duties as required, receive prescriptions, processdispensing fees, handle cash and enter prescriptions onto the pharmacy tracking system according to departmental procedures.
- To participate in the drug and fluid 'topup' service to wards and departments, reviewing and adjusting stock levels in liaison with pharmacists and ward managers, to ensure adequate stock holdings.
