At this exciting time in SRUCs development and growth, SRUC would like to appoint an experienced higher education market insight professional to develop and embed a strong internal brand and processes for market research, insight and data analysis.


This role can be based flexibly - working from home or from any of SRUC's campuses, or a hybrid model are all possible.

SRUC is rooted in its longstanding relationships with land-based industries asa partner educating and training a knowledgeable and skilled workforce and delivering progressive research and consultancy.

SRUC has a strong heritage of delivering well respected Further Education at its multiple campuses, along with undergraduate and postgraduateteaching and research in partnership with high-ranking universities in Scotland.


The Market Insight Manager's role is to inform the development of SRUC's higher education portfolio, marketing strategy and tactics, brand and awareness building outside Scotland.

This is focused on higher education programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduatelevel.

They will do so by taking a consultancy led approach to understanding the strategic objectives of SRUC and by building positive relationships, to deliver and commission market research and data analysis to a high standard and communicate it effectivelyto internal stakeholders.


Establishing a process for proactive market insight planning as well as managing and prioritising requests for research and data is a key component of this role.

The requirement for robust data and analysis in this area carries extremely high strategic importanceand risk to SRUC as we aim to grow student numbers and evolve into an enterprise university.


Through the creation and delivery of a Market Insight Plan the Market Insights Manager will produce insight which informs growth in higher education provision through the portfolio of courses, building out from the academic domains of The Circular Economy;Science, Society and Business; and Planetary Health.

This is in the context of a competitive environment at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and the focus being the rest of the UK and internationally.


The Key Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Undertaking and managing data manipulation and analysis, and desk research.
  • Undertaking and managing both qualitative and quantitative market research.
  • Building an engaging and persuasive market insight service at SRUC.
  • The Market Insight Manager is responsible for both creating and commissioning all key areas of market insight within the Market Insight Plan
  • Benchmarking (establishing benchmarks and regular reporting on key data)
  • Primary research (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Secondary research (such as competitor analysis and using other internal and external data sources)
  • Data production and analysis (such as accessing and manipulating UCAS and HESA data or population statistics)
  • Insight (taking research and analysis findings and extracting the key points that will influence decision making, telling a coherent and memorable story)
  • Evaluation (making use of data sources to assist the Marketing and Student Recruitment team in the evaluation of the effectiveness of its activities and strategies, such as digital analytics data).
  • Presentation (presenting findings in an engaging, insightful and relevant format to a range of stakeholders).
