Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles.

The shift pattern is Monday-Friday, and participation in weekend working, public holiday working and extended hours services, if service is there (37.5 hours).

Pharmacy Support Worker

Band 3

Previous pharmacy experience is desirable but not essential, as all training will be provided.


The role will involve the labelling and dispensing of medicines for both inpatients and outpatients including controlled drugs, as well as providing a medicine top-up service to wards and clinics.

You will work in the main pharmacy and also at ward level where you will build professional relationships with ward staff.

Gartnavel General Hospital is part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde's North Sector which also includes The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, Glasgow Royal Infirmary and the Vale of Leven Hospital.

There may be requirement or opportunity to work at these sites on occasion.

Three Standard Grades (or equivalent) including Mathematics, and English as well as basic IT skills are essential.

Gartnavel General Hospital is a teaching hospital in the West End of Glasgow and is located next to Great Western Road between Hyndland, Anniesland and Kelvindale.

It has good public transport links with Hyndland Railway Station situated adjacent to the hospital. Bus stops are located next to the main hospital campus entrance.
