Working to the Assistant Chief Executive, the Assistant Director of Strategy and Performance will be responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of the Policy, Performance and Insight and Executive Support Services.
As the Assistant Director you will manage several key services, contributing to the strategic direction, impact and overall performance in order to ensure the achievement of the Council's aims, objectives and priorities set out within the Corporate Plan.
You will be responsible for anticipating the policy demands and requirements to drive organisational priorities through decision making, formulation of organisational and political priorities and policies and the development of effective collaborative working across the organisation and with partners.
Key responsibilities
- Responsibility for anticipating the policy demands and requirements to drive organisational priorities and resourcing and influencing teams, both internal and external to meet those requirements.
- To formulate as part of the Strategic Management team the organisational response necessary to deliver prioritised outcomes and act as an ambassador for the Council's vision and priorities both internally and externally, achieving high levels of awareness and understanding of the aims, objectives and values of the council.
- Responsibility for driving and maintaining effective relationships with regional and national partners and national bodies, including central government to ensure Oldham is well placed to meet its strategic objectives and influence policy development and decisionmaking elsewhere.
- Responsibility for supporting the development of the council and borough's key strategies and future plans through leading the corporate policy, organisational performance and data intelligence functions.
- To drive and improve the performance of council services and strategies, focusing on a performance driven culture, driving forward more efficient, effective and joined up working practices and achieving continuous improvement. Leading on improvement through quality assurance frameworks, reviewing performance management arrangements, rationalising systems and processes and effectively deploying resources to increase value for public money.
