About the role


We have an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Oncology Group (Dr Anna Rose) in the Department of Paediatrics as a Post-doctoral research assistant.


You will play an important role in the exploration of new therapeutic approaches in children's cancers, focussing on the molecular pathways in Alternative Lengthening of Telomeres (ALT) positive malignancies.

You will be responsible for running your own research work, as part of our wider research aims and directions in our newly formed team.

You will be working in a growing department within the Medical Sciences Division.

The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging, neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology.


This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract initially until 03 August 2025 with the possibility to extend provided further external funding is available.


About you


You will have a DPhil/PhD in telomere biology, supplemented by relevant experience in ALT-cancer biology, with proven and demonstrable technical skills, including telomere assays, DNA damage work, and a wide range of molecular techniques.

You will possess knowledge in the field with the ability to analyse, present and communicate your research.

You will have highly effective verbal and written communication skills with all level of staff staff and an ability to operate effectively in a demanding and innovative research environment.
