Calacus is an international public relations consultancy for individuals and organisations with an interest in sport, who are passionate on the ability of sport to make a difference in society.

We are looking to boost our team with the appointment of highly capable junior consultant.


The role will include working closely with the MD of Calacus PR, as well as working with freelancers employed by the agency and clients on day-to-day delivery.


This role will be mostly virtual with occasional work-days in central London and at client offices and events where required.


Brief Description:


Estio Training have an exciting new opportunity for a PR apprentice to join a top sports PR agency in Central London.


Job description:

You must be an ambitious, highly confident and articulate self-starter.

You will be excellently presented and a great communicator with superb written and verbal skills and excellent English.

You will have a fascination for the media and sport, relentless drive and persistence and a hunger for digital communications.

Your role will be to support with all account duties as required.

You will also be rewarded financially for any new business you bring in or contribute to winning. An entrepreneurial instinct is beneficial.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

  • Written Communication Writing for business communications, communicating effectively with clients, writing for the media (this could include news releases, blogs, case studies and internal communications)
  • Use of Social Media Understand when the use of social media is appropriate and how it can be incorporated into a PR campaign
  • Media Liaison Understanding how the media operates, dealing with day to day inquiries from the media, selecting strategies and tactics to pitch stories and/or products to the media, building relationships with the media (ie journalists), creating media lists, monitoring press clippings, sending/receiving press selection products
  • Deliver and evaluate PR campaigns Help to create strategy and tactics, brainstorming, understanding the key elements of developing a strategy and be able to monitor and evaluate.
  • Presentation Skills Help Plan, structure and deliver presentations internally and externally taking an active and professional role.
  • Research & Data Analysis Research information for the team and/or clients and report key details.
  • Events Planning, organising and cocoordinating events, meeting the objectives of a client brief.

WORKLOAD MANAGEMENT

  • Time Management Effective planning, organising and prioritising your workload to ensure you meet deadlines and objectives for both work activities and completion of your work.
  • Diary Management Use of Outlook, ensuring diary/diaries are kept up to date. Arranging meetings, both internally and externally.
  • Working to activity plans Ensuring that all client objectives and deadlines are clearly understood, using MS Planner, the Calacus project management tool.

WORKING WITH PEOPLE

  • Develop relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, effective listening and verbal/written communication.
  • Communicating with supervisors/mentors Ensuring they are aware of work in progress and are briefed when any problems arise.
  • Team Building Working with teams to achieve goals and promote a motivated work environment.
  • Networking Building a professional network of suitable business leads in sport whilst maintaining a professional image.

  • Follow company and training provider procedures at all times.

NEW BUSINESS

  • Draft contact lists for new business outreach.
  • Undertake research and document drafting for new business presentations.

MARKETING

  • Write blogs for Calacus blog and Newsletter.
  • Update Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Instagram with relevant content.
  • Use Google tools for research, analysis, and promotion of company.

TRAINING

  • Attend workshops and training courses, both online and offline including undertaking CIPR CPD training (after probation).

Qualifications:


  • 3 x A Levels (including English) or equivalent is desirable with proven excellent written and verbal English skills.
