We are delighted to be assisting an established MGA as they look to grow their team with the addition of experienced Commercial Underwriters to deal with new business and renewals on behalf of a large panel of brokers across the UK.

As a forward thinking business, they are happy to consider people across the UK who are looking to work from home, and able to report into the Head Office in Manchester once a month for a team meeting.

Following an exciting change in the business, there will be scope to progress into BDM, Regional Underwriter or leadership roles in the future.

Key Duties:

Underwriting and placement of Property, Casualty & Combined risks in line with a selection of schemes and binders
Supporting a network of 350 brokers, with this growing by an average of 3 per week
Working with the team to answer over 125 daily enquiries, which is expected to grow to 175 following the exciting changes that have taken place
Working with premiums anywhere from £500 to £50,000, averaging around £5,000
Adhering to Underwriting authorities and taking relevant insurer facilitated training to increase this
Being proactive, and ensuring a quality service is provided to brokers
Using and coaching brokers on a bespoke processing system

Key Skills:

At least 2 years Commercial Underwriting experience is required for this role
Commercial Underwriting experience is essential, preferably within an MGA, Insurer or Wholesale Broker
An understanding of Binders and Schemes is desirable
Ability to get on with brokers and lean on past relationships with be advantageous
Able to work in a fastpaced environment and manage the expectations of brokers along the way
Strong communication skills and the confidence to professionally challenge decisions
Experience with Property and Liability risks is essential
A desire to progress and develop would be welcomed as there is scope for senior and leadership roles as the business grows

On offer is a basic salary up to £46k (negotiable), along with 25 days holiday, bonus, pension, private medical, support for professional qualifications, genuine career progression, free on-site parking at their office near Harrogate & Manchester, and the option to work from home on a full time basis.
