Description
Job description

An opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic research team that uses single-cell genomics to illuminate the pathogenesis of skin inflammation.

As part of a rapidly expanding program on atopic dermatitis (led by Prof Francesca Capon and Dr Satveer Mahil), a post-doctoral position is now available to investigate the determinants of response to treatment and adverse drug reactions.

The post-holder will join a well-established and inclusive team that integrates clinical, experimental and computational expertise. He/she will lead the analysis of single-cell RNA-seq and proteomic data generated in a well characterised patient resource.

There will also be scope to contribute to other projects where a variety of omics approaches are being applied to the study of severe skin inflammation.

The selection process will include a panel interview (scheduled for Fri 24 March) and a presentation.

This post will be offered on a fixed term contract for 2 years

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent

Key responsibilities

  • Analysing scRNAseq data using established and emerging computational tools
  • Analysing multiplex protein measurements and other omics datasets
  • Facilitating data management and data sharing
  • Supervising junior lab members and/or project students
  • Presenting research findings at internal meetings and external conferences, as appropriate
  • The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post._

  • Ability to communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary setting
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to see projects to completion
  • Understanding of data analysis principles
  • Understanding of the immune basis of human disease
  • Experience in at least one area related to the project (bioinformatics or immunology)
Essential criteria

  • PhD in an area related to the project
  • Familiarity with the use of R or python
  • Experience in one or more areas relevant to the project (e.g., bioinformatics, immunology, or statistics)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable criteria

  • Familiarity with the use of high-performance computer clusters
  • Experience with the analysis of omics datasets
  • Understanding of the immune basis of human disease
