Energus is a training and conference facility based in West Cumbria. We work with businesses across the supply chain ensuring their event vision becomes a reality.

Events at Energus vary day to day, we host a range of meetings and training in our meeting rooms, conferences for up to 400 delegates and high-profile evening events for corporate clients.


We have an extensive range of facilities, and can cater for conferences, training courses, exhibitions, charity & film nights, evening dinners, plus much more.

We have the capability to provide a full corporate hospitality service, ensuring guests attending Energus are catered for with the highest quality service and local Cumbrian food.

Energus has 6 meeting rooms which vary in size and capabilities, a 204-seat lecture theatre with hybrid IT facilities and fully flexible Atrium which can hold 250 guests in a formal layout.

Event roles at Energus differ from day to day from the enquiry stage through to the event.

Organisation and customer service skills are paramount in this role working with clients to ensure their event is exactly the way they planned.


Job Purpose

  • The Events Assistant Apprentice will support the Events Team in taking room hire bookings, the promotion and sale of Energus as a conference, exhibition and corporate events venue.
  • They will also support the Events Team in all planning, setting up and running the events on the date.
  • The post holder will assist the Events and Communications Lead with marketing activities for each department in the business.

Principal Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Data Protection
  • Work with the Events Team to ensure that high quality room bookings and interface with clients is maintained;
  • Work with the Events Team to establish and maintain exceptional working relationships with all conference clients, ensuring that the objectives of each event are satisfied.
  • Ensure all customer needs are dealt with professionally and efficiently before, during and following their stay, providing outstanding customer service.
  • Work with the wider Energus team e.g. Facilities & catering for the events setup taking leads on events when necessary.
  • Be on site for evening events, assisting in bar service, in the catering department or point of contact for customer.
  • Assist with marketing campaigns and promotional material.
  • Using in house platforms to create social media content and schedule posts on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
  • Managing social media pages by posting updates and responding to comments and messages
  • Assist with online advertising, including updating the website.
  • Create online marketing material to send out to clients, stakeholders, employees and learners.
  • Utilise Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) in place, ensuring all processes are carried out correctly.
  • General administrative tasks for the events and marketing department.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • A* to C (9 to 4) in Maths and English at GCSE level or complete functional skills as part of the apprenticeship.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Enthusiastic, selfmotivated and outgoing.
  • Good communication and presentation skills (verbal and written).
  • A positive and adaptable approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to work to deadlines with good prioritisation and time management skills.
  • Have a good understanding of Social Media such as Facebook, X, LinkedIn and TikTok
  • A keen eye for detail

DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE ROLE, CANDIDATES MUST BE 18+

THIS ROLE WILL BE FOR AN INITIAL PERIOD OF 24 MONTHS. OFFER OF PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT WILL BE DEPENDENT ON PERFORMANCE AND SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE APPRENTICESHIP.

Hours, Salary & Benefits

  • Starting salary of £20,000 per annum
  • Monday to Friday; 08:30 16:30 (additional hours will need to be worked on evenings and some weekends during busy event periods, but notice will be given)
