Role:
Matron (Head of Adult Patient Services)

Department:
Adult Unit Reports to: Director of Clinical Services Key contacts: CEO, Director of Clinical Services, Director of Governance & Quality, Senior Management Team, Operational Management Team, Lead Nurse and Clinical Lead Nurses and Nursing team in Adult Inpatients and Lymphoedema service Summary: A dedicated, skilled, compassionate, and inclusive senior nurse who will provide strong leadership across our Adult Inpatient Service, encouraging innovation, creativity, and strategic thinking about service provision and staff experience


Role Purpose:
Main Responsibilities (primary accountability and responsibilities expected to fulfil this role)

Leadership & Management:
To support the development of the strategic plans within the Adult Service. To monitor the effective rostering and deployment of the Adult Clinical Teams. To manage the Adult Clinical Team budgets effectively.

Support the development and implementation of our International Nurse Pathway Support the development of our clinical nursing career pathways.


Management of Adult Clinical Teams:
To lead, manage, motivate, and develop staff, and through effective management of staff appraisals. Continued review and development of adult service delivery plans. To lead on the Mental Capacity Act for the Hospice.


Strategy, Change Management and Service Improvement: Contribute to the development and delivery of the Hospice-wide Clinical Strategy and policies. To identify new opportunities for the individual services within the Adult Clinical Teams. Produce high level reports and data analysis detailing service delivery and developments. Lead on Adult Clinical Audits.


Working in Partnership:

To ensure effective communication and involvement arrangements exist across our partner agencies with a particular focus on palliative and end of life care.

To represent the organisation at operational management meetings and forums, both internal and external.

To communicate effectively with patients, their families, and significant others to assess the quality of care and effectiveness of service provision.


Operational Management:
To manage 24 hours service provision in Adult Unit.

To participate in the On-call Rota. To attend patient related meetings (internal and external).


Health & Safety Infection Control:
Ensure that environmental standards are appropriate for safe and clean care delivery in line with Care Quality Commission (CQC) and Infection Control Requirements


Line Management:
Lead Nurse Adult Unit Lead Nurse Lymphoedema Clinical Systems Administrator Hospice Doctors
