Assistant Principal (Curriculum)


Reporting to the Vice Principal, Curriculum and Standards, this is a College Group role based across two campuses located in Redhill and Selsdon with site management responsibility for John Ruskin College.


College location:
East Surrey College (Redhill) and John Ruskin College (Croydon)

:08:45-17:00 Monday - Friday

We are seeking a highly skilled, innovative, experienced, and successful senior leader to join our community.

You will have the opportunity to work with talented teams of staff and make a meaningful impact on the lives of the young people and adults we serve.


In this newly created role you will lead an established team of Directors of Learning, acting as a role model to motivate, inspire and encourage staff in the pursuit of excellence for their students.

You will help to secure a culture of high expectations, excellent innovation in teaching and wellbeing support for our staff.


  • A full teaching qualification, and a relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification
  • Thorough and up to date knowledge of the FE and skills sector including national and local skills drivers
  • Good understanding of apprenticeships and adult provision
  • Excellent understanding of how data is generated and used to support improvement in FE and the ability to analyse and present this
  • Good digital skills including the use of cloud based storage, office packages and Teams
  • A varied management skill set in leading and supporting an experienced management team
  • A passion for supporting young people and adults, and the ability to work sensitively and positively when managing interventions and complaints
  • Experience managing provision across sites
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication and the ability to relate effectively with a wide range of personnel within an academic context
  • Experience in working effectively with peers across complex interdepartmental processes
