As a Barclays Java Developer, you will be joining Chief Operating Office & Functions team within Market Post Trade Business area.

You will be instrumental in implementing the software delivery including analysis, requirements gathering, deployment modeldesign, most importantly Dev-ops and deployment Development work will incorporate a range of languages and technologies, with a particular focus on Java and relational databases on Linux platform.

What will you be doing?:


  • Developing API services for system integration
  • Being hands on knowledge on MQ and kafka publication, error handling scenarios
  • Doing Memory effective usage, performance tuning, heap allocation checks
  • Taking part in Unit testing (Mockito, power mock) and Functional Testing (Cucumber)
  • Configurating Sonar cube, Veracode for services
  • Developing Production deployment management and issue resolution
  • Handling challenging situations e.g., resistance to change, due to nature of STP/Efficiencies or changing mindset on technical solution or approach

What we're looking for:


  • Solid technical knowledge on REST API Design, microservices buildout
  • Experience with JAVA 8 and above, private cloud deployment experience (Openshift)
  • Excellent knowledge on java middleware pub / sub model with MQ and kafka
  • Hands on knowledge on CI / CT pipeline, deployment

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Experience in Cloud deployment management (openshift and AWS)
  • Exposure to SQL query writing
  • Good English language skills to communicate with multiple international locations
  • Ability and desire to get involved in all phases of development lifecycle, from sprint planning, through to design, estimation and testing
