An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Rheumatology administration team.

You will need to provide an efficient and comprehensive secretarial service and should have previous secretarial and administrative experience.

Excellent organisational skills are required as is the ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and work to deadlines.


Excellent communication skills are required and the post holder will need to have the ability to liaise with staff at all levels and work effectively and efficiently as part of a team.

This is a busy role and the post holder will need to have a flexible approach to work and be able to use their own initiative.

To be successful you will have proficient keyboard, organisational and communication skills. You must have a flexible and professional approach to the work.

This is a part-time post working 30 hours per week in the Rheumatology Department at Truro Health Park.


General correspondence and other communication by use of either audio typing techniques or other digital formats as directed, utilising the ability to accurately transcribe dictation, understanding the context and re-arranging as necessary.

Provide cover for other members of staff as directed by the Service Manager.

Data quality check the outcomes of clinic annotations altering PAS to reflect the relevant clinical notes.


Support the Rheumatology Admin team to complete their tasks in a timely manner by giving direction on work priorities and assisting with the work.

Maintain absolute patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with Trust policy and the legal framework such as the Data Protection Act.


Utilise keyboard skills to RSA Stage 2 and RSA Stage 2 Audio Typing or equivalent to produce clinical and routine correspondence to health professionals, patients and their carers.

Use Word and Excel documents and enter data as requested.

Regularly utilise Trust Information Systems such as Maxims, Pas etc for the creation of correspondence, reports and other documents.


Develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Patient Administration System (PAS) and Case note Management, including admitting, discharging and amending PAS to reflect patient outcomes.
