It is a really exciting time to be joining our Port Health team as we transform our services in response to the UK's departure from the European Union.


We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the East Suffolk Council's Port Health Team as a Border Force - Authorised Officer.

Your role:


This is a temporary role funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) to undertake functions required to mitigate the risk of African Swine Fever (ASF) from pork/pork products being brought into GB from the EU/EFTA states.

Working in collaboration with Border Force to identify illegal imports of pork and pork products from Green list counties.

As part of this role, you will be actioning voluntary surrender of goods or seizure or products and checking verification of goods and health marks or commercial packaging.


What you will need:


You will need a relevant Level 4 qualification/certificate eg Level 4 Food safety or equivalent relevant experience in the workplace.

This role will have responsibility under TARP to enforce voluntary surrender or seizure of goods.


Your hours of work will be 37 hours per week, worked on a rotational pattern of 8 hour shifts between the operational hours of 05.30-midnight, Monday to Friday.
