Activities and Responsibilities of the Post

Principle Purpose of the role


Applications are invited for the above post in the Contract and Control Room (CCR) Support Team at OCC in Wymondham, which offers operational, technical and procedural support to the CCR and the wider Police Community within Norfolk.

The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic person with excellent communication and problem solving skills.

You will be responsible for dealing with matters and material of a sensitive nature that requires a high level of accuracy and concentration.


You will be required to offer front line support to staff and some external contact in a variety of areas.

You will administer various computer-based systems such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Alarms System, and other Operational Systems that are used.

The successful applicant will be required to be able to work to tight timescales with minimum supervision.

You will be expected to prioritise your workload and re prioritise as new issues/problems occur from a day to day basis.

Main Activities of the Role

  • Administration of a myriad of CCR based Systems such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Telephony Systems, Radio and alarms systems etc.
  • Management of computer based records
  • Technical development, testing and configuration and documentation of systems
  • Undertake development work and testing and documentation of computer software and/or business processes
  • Assist with project and development work
  • Production and creation of statistics and reports of activities undertaken
  • Financial record keeping/management, such as payments and accruals
  • Management of internal and external communication and correspondence
  • Undertake audits as required
  • Carry out Policy and Standard Operating Procedural reviews Asset management and tracking
  • Administration of security vetting/checks for the CCR
  • Production of project plans via Microsoft Project or similar based systems
  • Understanding and working knowledge of the CCR, and County Policing deployment mode and other departments e.g. ICT
  • Administration of complaints for the Department
  • Act with integrity, in line with Police Services statement of mission and values
  • Any other duties that are commensurate with the role and grade as may be requested by management
Person Specification

It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Good keyboard skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to acquire and retain a wide ranging knowledge and information
  • Ability to demonstrate good verbal and written communication
  • Proven organisational skills with ability to effectively organise and manage workload
  • Previous experience of undertaking administrative/technical/financial support and maintaining accurate records
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Data Protection Act and Management of Police Information (MOPI)
It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:

  • Previous Control Room and/or operational Police experience
  • Previous experience of administration/problem solving on day to day basis
Hours of work 37 per week Monday to Friday.

08:00 - 16:00

This post is offered on a temporary basis for 12 months

Special conditions / Points to note

  • The purpose of this job description is to indicate the general level of the duties and responsibility of the role, the duties may from time to time vary without changing the general character of the role or the levels of responsibilities
  • Whilst the role is normally based at the aforementioned location, you may be required to work at other establishments across both Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies as may be reasonably required. Police Staff Conditions of Service will be adhered to in such instances
