Full driving licence and car required for this role

We are looking to build a small team to support a young man with an acquired brain injury in the Chingford area

About You


For this position you must have a background in care and support, and also you will be able to work on your own initiative and also have an engaging personality, but also be able to deal with situations that may be of a challenge, and therefore understanding how to provide a level of consistency to ensure that situations do not escalate and understanding what trigger points could take place are essential, and ultimately if situations do become a challenge, knowing how to deal in these circumstances is crucial, but the focus is very much on this situation not happening.


This young man can be very engaging, but he can also be challenging and therefore having an understanding as to how behaviour can escalate and looking for triggers and build ups is crucial, supported in the right way the number of challenges will be significantly reduced.


T lives with his family, and he requires two to one support, this is to support should there be any challenges and also to allow for breaks for the people working with T.

You will be working with T, ideally you will have an interest or understanding in the following areas

  • Football
  • Games
  • Education
  • Days out and Trips Out
  • Fairground rides and Thrill seeking rides


T is an enthusiastic young man who has many varied interests and therefore you must be able to think outside the box and look at planning and looking to keep T engage and stimulate him, whilst at the same time recognising that as he is more active this can be a trigger for behaviours that challenge.

So having an understanding of T and been mindful of the triggers is a crucial element of the role.


Hours
We are providing support from Monday to Saturday, between the hours of 7am and 7pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 9pm on a Saturday

We are proposing that the roster works on a three days a week approach and therefore the contracts will be 36 hours per week for three full days, this will alternate so week one would be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and week two would be Thursday, Friday and Saturday


There will be the additional opportunities to support T when he goes on holiday at various occasions through the year with his family.

We support a range of people, and working for CJP you will be supporting both Adults and Children in the community, this will be for a minimum of one hour, but in general our support is in blocks of hours.


We work to empower the people we support to live a fulfilled life, and we ensure that we develop whole life plans that support in so many ways.


You will find that no two days are the same, one day you may be supporting someone to access the community, the next day you could be supporting someone to work, and then to various activities like sporting events, day trips, going to the park and much more.


The majority of the work we undertake is in the Halifax area and we work in tight geographical areas to reduce travel time and also mileage and petrol costs.


There is an expectation that you are able to support on a weekend and in an evening, but we work on an alternate weekend basis, but the majority of the support we provide is through the day.
